GOLDEN LION -The Golden Lion Award — went to Pieta (South Korea) On Saturday the film’s South Korean director, Kim Ki-duk broke into song when he accepted the coveted award for best movie for his dark and violent picture about a loan shark.
SILVER LION – went to Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master. The drama which follows Philip Seymour Hoffman as a character based on Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s much speculated “The Master,” his first movie since the Oscar winning “There Will Be Blood,” has set the Venice Film Festival all abuzz. The film, about a self-appointed prophet who starts a church, is touching a nerve.
SEPTEMBER 2nd – MICHAEL FASSBENDER ANNOUNCES YOUTUBES GLOBAL WINNER
Michael Fassbender announces winner of YouTube’s global film festival is Spanish Director David Victori has won the inaugural edition of YouTube’s Your Film Festival for his short movie ‘The Guilt.’ The winner was announced Sunday on the sidelines of the Venice Film Festival after selection by a jury that included director Ridley Scott and actor Michael Fassbender. Victori, whose movie focuses on a man obsessed with revenge after his wife’s murder, will receive $500,000 for his next project, with Scott and Fassbender acting as executive producers _ giving the filmmaker key insider guidance.
YouTube viewers chose the 10 finalists, who traveled to Venice for the final selection, after viewing the films on YouTube’s channel http://www.YouTube.com/yourfilmfestival. The narrative-driven submissions could be no longer than 15 minutes in length.

On the occasion of the 69th Venice Film Festival, Jaeger-LeCoultre is pursuing its partnership with Emergency, a humanitarian organisation established in 1994 to help the victims of civil wars and poverty, by supporting maternity hospital opened by Emergency at Anabah in Afghanistan, a country where the health of mothers and their children is an urgent daily concern. In support of this important project, celebrities joining the humanitarian action will walk the red carpet in Venice holding a rose and wearing the watch that symbolises this operation.
