Paul Salfen interviews Rob Zombie, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Jeff Daniel Phillips for the movie “The Lords of Salem” at SXSW 2013. Zombie’s a prolific filmmaker, having directed 10 movies and been involved in no less than 66 soundtracks. His wife Sheri didn’t start acting until 2002 when she landed the role of Baby in the horror House of 1000 Corpses (2003) which was also directed by Rob Zombie. She followed that with The Devil’s Rejects (2005), Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009) as well as a brief film segment for Grindhouse (2007) called Werewolf Women of the SS. She also had an additional role in Tobe Hooper’s Toolbox Murders (2004). Jeff Daniel Phillips is an award-winning actor most recognizable as the Geico caveman on TV.
They tell us a little bit about the movie, and when Paul asks Zombie for his “Hail Mary Moment” for the Drew Pearson Show, he tells us about his first heavy metal band White Zombie, (named after the Bela Lugosi film White Zombie (1932).)
SYNOPSIS:From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem? (c) Anchor Bay
