Walker was present at SXSW 2013 for the screening of the movie “HOURS,” in which he portrays a father who loses his wife in childbirth at the onset of Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing struggle to get to safety as everyone evacuates the hospital and leaves behind the father and infant daughter. Paul Salfen interviewed Walker for this red carpet interview in March. Producer Peter Safran says the film will continue it’s plans for release December 13th in 15 select U.S. cities, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Actor Paul Walker passed away Saturday when a Porsche he was traveling in crashed in Santa Clarita, California. He was known for his role in the hit film Varsity Blues, but later garnered fame as Brian O’Conner in The Fast and the Furious film series. His other films include Eight Below, Into the Blue, She’s All That, and Takers. He appeared on the National Geographic Channel series Expedition Great White.
The horrific accident which claimed the life of Walker and his friend Roger Rodas, who was driving the vehicle, is currently being investigated by The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday but did not reveal any details on a possible cause. Speed may have been a factor in the crash, which occurred about 3:30 p.m. on Hercules Street, a normally quiet road with a 45-mph speed limit, authorities said. Walker was apparently the passenger in the 2005 red Porsche Carrera GT. Walker and Rodas were participating in the Reach Out Worldwide Charity event.
