Wonka ‘Kids,’ Marsters Make Special Appearances
Fans in town for Austin Comic Con will have an extra opportunity to catch the original “Willy Wonka” kids and James Marsters in special appearances at Alamo Draft House (“The Ritz” location at 320 E. 6th St.) in Austin this weekend. Peter Ostrum (“Charlie”), Julie Dawn Cole (“Veruca Salt”), Denise Nickerson (“Violet Beauregard”) and Paris Themmen (“Mike Teevee”), who portrayed four of the lucky children from the 1971 classic film WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, will participate in a Q&A at 9:30 p.m., following a showing of the film at 7:30. Then on Saturday, it’s a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sing-Along, with Marsters introducing a double feature of two episodes: “Hush” and “Once More With Feeling.” He will also participate in a fun “videoke” with a fan, acting out a three-minute scene. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation. See http://drafthouse.com/movies/buffy_and_the_vampire_sing-along_w_james_marsters/austin for more info.
