Your hosts Paul Doty and Roman Guzman talk about Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Nothin’ Fancy” with ANDY TANAS, the bass player for Black Oak Arkansas and Swedish rock band Krokus. “Nothin Fancy” was Lynyrd Skynyrd’s third studio album, but the first to reach top 10 in the United States. The album was certified gold in June of 1975 and platinum in July of 1987.
Tanas got his start on the audio crew in 1975 with Lynyrd Skynyrd, then toured with Marshall Tucker, Outlaws, Wet Willy, Charlie Daniels, Climax Blues Band, Status Quo, Peter Frampton, .38 Special, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. In 1977, he joined Black Oak Arkansas as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter. He was offered the bassist/background vocalist slot with Swiss rockers Krokus in 1984. He was in four videos including the MTV concert video that year, toured the U.S., Canada, South America and Europe until leaving the band in 1985 to go solo.
